Lindsay Lohan-Celebrity Thin?

Why do so many celebrities
like Lindsay Lohan become shockingly thin?

Lindsay Lohan recently parodied herself on the television comedy, Saturday Night Live, for being too thin. Celebrities such as Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie, and Avril Lavigne are often berated in the media for being too thin. With the pressure that both girls and women feel to look thin, are celebrities presenting healthy images for us to model?

To understand this we need to look at the overall grand scheme of things. You can take a group of women that work in a corporate environment, that are exotic dancers, and that are celebrities and you will find some similarities with all of these women.

You can find a woman in each of these groups who isn't comfortable or satisfied with how she looks and diets excessively. You may also find a woman in each group who is so busy and consumed with her career and her personal life that she skips meals and therefore gets quite thin.

The difference is that the women in the celebrity group get the most mainstream exposure and as a result come under a lot of scrutiny. Another difference is that a woman at IBM might be told by her friends, family etc. that she is too thin and needs to take better care of herself - but the celebrity is told by managers, agents, and peers that she looks absolutely fantastic. The only reasonable conclusion she can make is that it is because of the weight loss.

Actress Kirstie Alley's new television show, Fat Actress, is a good example of the additional pressures a celebrity feels in regards to her career and her looks.

Why is Lindsey Lohan so thin? Probably because she is young, her metabolism is fast, she is working constantly, and perhaps is under a bit of stress due to family problems. Very similar to many young women embarking on adulthood and a blossoming career.

Why does the public care? Because many women are searching for images of themselves on camera -- not unrealistic ones. So when there is a celebrity who is successful and curvy - girls and women are elated. Relieved! There are normal looking people who can be successful in Hollywood. So when Lohan took that "image" away from us, we all went a little bit bonkers. If you don't believe me, check out http://www.feedlindsay.com !
